I think that piece of garbage is better off just disappearing into history.

I agree with Lunar Orbit on this one martin.

It is a piece of crap with no shred of credibility whatsoever.

I suggest your time would be better spent watching the Apollo mission tapes which are available on DVD :D

Regardless of what some may think of the Fox special, I haven't watched it yet and would like to make up my OWN mind thank you-- rather than hearing random comments like "its a piece of crap" etc.

I have no idea were you can find a copy.  I've only seen it on TV and I didn't bother to record it, nor have I seen it for sale anywhere.

That is fine, I think you should make up your own mind.  However, let me warn you in advance, the FOX special was a very biased program that allowed the conspriracy theorists to present their claims virtually unchallenged.  All the hoax claims have an answer, but FOX didn't bother show that part.  If you do see it, please don't make up you mind without first researching the other side of the story.  Here are a few places you can start:

Moon Base Clavius
Fox TV and the Apollo Moon Hoax
Did We Land on the Moon?

The last Web page is my own.

If you do find a copy just keep in mind that it was produced by the entertainment division of FOX, not the news division. They were more concerned with ratings than the truth.

I think there was something on National Geographic Channel recently that presented each hoax claim, then followed it with a scientific explanation.  I was surprised to see 'Geographic' give the conspiracy pushers any air time at all, but at least they showed both sides and did not use out-of-context editing to make any points.  Geographic repeats programming pretty regularly, so you can watch for it.  As for the Fox joke- watch for them to re-air it in any July, around the anniversary of the first landing.  They're in it for the money.

That one I did happen to record; it was called Conspiracy Moon Landing.  One of the hoax debunkers in that show is Jay Windley, who is the author of the Moon Base Clavius site I posted earlier.  Jay is a regular at the Bad Astronomy and Apollohoax forums.

Apparently I'm posting here too.

Nokomis, I respect your desire to draw your own conclusions regarding the infamous Fox special.  I would like to make you keenly aware of only one point:  the producers of that program *intentionally* misrepresent the facts.  How do I know this?  Because I have spoken to the people interviewed on it and they have expressed the sentiment that they were misquoted or quoted out of context.  One even threatened to sue the producers.  And also because I am an experienced engineer and photographer and I have spend many years studying the Apollo program as a professional and I tell you hundreds of things that program got wrong, and which are so wrong they can only have been gotten wrong intentionally.

So please don't approach that program with any sort of notion that it's a fair and balanced discussion of the evidence.  The hoax believers are *clearly* wrong and *clearly* misrepresenting the data in that program in order to get you to believe a certain thing.  Don't be lured in by their expressions of even-handedness.  The *last* thing those producers want is for you to make up your mind having been given all the facts.

That aside, the Fox program is very difficult to come by these days.  At one point it was being sold by Amazon.com.  Fox no longer offers it, and neither does Amazon.  Your best bet is to attend some of the more fringe sites for UFOs and so-called "black ops" and see whether one of them can hook you up.  The only way you're going to get it now is bootleg.

Was Amazon selling the FOX program? I know they were selling Bart Sibrel's first movie (which people often mistake for the FOX program) but as far as I know the show FOX aired has never been available for purchase (not legitimately at least).

I do have both videos but I don't plan on sharing them. Like I said, they're better off forgotten.
