I think I fixed the attachment problem... do you see the picture in my post now, or is it just a download link?

Just a link, and still not downloadable

Ok, I think I have fixed bother problems... the attachments should be viewable/downloadable and the fonts should be a fixed size similar to the old forum.

You can adjust the font sizes by holding your Ctrl key, and rolling your mouse wheel.  ;)

Visually impared people hate me... I like to lock the font size at 11-12pt. At least Firefox ignores that and resizes it anyway. ;)

Are you planning on adding a quick reply box? I always found that useful...

Hmmm... there is one, but you might have to activate it in your profile. I thought it was on by default though.

You might want to post some of the profile options as an announcement, Kel.  Quite a few things that are admin-controlled (and global) in PhpBB are user-controlled (and specific to each user) in SMF.

Even things as extreme as theme selection can be user-selectable.

So, things like quick reply, popups for new IMs, time display format, viewing of avatars and signatures, etc.  can all be set up in each user's profile individually.

Good idea... I haven't really figured out everything myself yet but I will post something like that when I can.

I never really liked the admin side of SMF, sure it's got some extra features, but I always found PHPBB to feel 'right' somehow. From an administrative point of view anyway...

I dunno what the back-end's like though, never really touched it with either...

I think phpbb's admin control panel was less complicated, but SMF's complication comes from the extra features so it's a fair trade. I've heard that upgrading to a newer version of SMF will be as simple as uploading a file and clicking a link... phpbb requrired manually updating files, which became a real pain when they started updating every two weeks.

The picture is from MS Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight. I was attempting the recreation of Charles Lindbergs first Atlantic crossing... which was really really hard because it is difficult to keep the plane flying a straight course.

I've noticed a little quirk in the software that I'm hoping there's a solution for.  There are two forums with child boards - Mission Updates and Space Science & Technology.  When there is a new post in one of the child boards, the 'new post' icon doesn't display on the parent board; it only displays on the child board.  If one isn't being real observant it could be easy to miss that a new post has been made.  Do you think it might be possible to have the 'new post' icon display on the parent board if a post is made in one of the child boards?

I noticed that this morning too... and it is a problem that I am not happy with. I will look for a solution but it is probably low on the list of things to fix for the developers (especially since it is probably an intentional feature, not a bug).

I'm not sure if it's something I can fix myself but I will take a look at the code... maybe I can figure it out.

One solution worth considering is doing away with the whole child board layout and just keeping all of the posts in the top level board (the way it was with the phpbb). Child boards do help keep things organized but if it makes things more difficult for users it's not worth it.
