Star Trek: Enterprise
« on: June 01, 2002, 02:00:00 AM »
The first season of the latest incarnation of Star Trek has just finished. A lot of fans were unsure of how this series would turn out, but now that we've had a chance to watch it I would like to know what you think of it.

So on a scale of 1-5, rate Enterprise.

I voted "Good" for the simple reason that we've only seen one seasons.

As with past "generations" of Star Trek I look forward more to character development than to individual episodes. Mind you, there have been some pearls! Don't get me started.

If this incarnation goes seven seasons my vote will probably change to "Great".

I can't remember if I voted "Good" or "Great", but overall I've been pretty happy with Enterprise.

When I first found out it was going to take place before the original Star Trek I thought "Oh no! They going to mess things up", but so far they've done a good job.

I really like the opening title sequence... I like how it follows the history of exploration from sailing ships, to balloons, Charles Lindburg, Apollo and the Space Shuttle... and into the future. I was surprised at first to hear someone singing the theme song (in the previous series' it's always just been instrumental music with no vocals), but I like the theme song.

If it can keep up the good work I think Enterprise will become my second favourite Star Trek series (the first being The Next Generation).

Agreed on TNG!

I've recently caught up on the Voyager series, what with "Space" playing them every night and really enjoy that one too!

Regarding to opening sequence for "Enterprise", my favourite part is the grin on Alan Shepard's face as he was suiting up in preparation for Apollo 14. Get shivers every time I see it!!

Yes! The part with Shepard is my favourite too... that and seeing the Lunar Module floating over the moon.

I also liked how they worked the first warp flight (from ST: First Contact) into the opening. James Cromwell, the guy who played Zephram Cochrane in the movie, also appeared in the first episode of Enterprise.

You are correct, Sir!

Is it me or does he just show up in all the best film and TV shows.

He did the Zefram Cochrane thing in the Star Trek Movie, he was the bad guy in Space Cowboys,he's done guest stints on TNG, DS9 and Voyager and then he's the government patsy in Deep Impact!!!

Go figure!

James Cromwell is a hoot!!!

An upcoming episode of Enterprise will be a sequel to the movie "ST: First Contact".

In the episode the wreckage of the Borg sphere destroyed by the Enterprise-E will be discovered. Considering the Enterprise is lightyears away from Earth I'm not sure how they will fit into the story.

The episode is scheduled to air May 7, 2003.
