Space Ship One Launch on September 29th.

I think SS1 had a show on Discovery.  Burt Rutan should have his own show on his other creations like the Voyager plane.  Rutan has many interesting designs.  One guy at work flys planes of his own and shows me books of all his interesting creations.

As for Monster Lamers..err..Garage-
Jesse James is a loser and should have his show pulled.  I cannot stand that guy and he is no mechanic, just a paint-body guy touched by Hollywood.  I quit watching after the third show when they were constantly going over the $3k limit and calling the stuff freebies.
One of my friends told me he was gonna demo derby and I watched the show last year.  He was too chicken to derby and had a girl do it in his place.  My derby team challenged him and any of his team to have a team match.  Hell, one guy on my team who retired with heart troubles wanted to come out of retirement to beat the !$&* out of him in the arena.  No response from Jesse "the chicken" James.
He is a prima donna that needs to get beat.

Just my $0.02,

SM

I don't care for Monster Garage, I would much rather watch people build a motorcycle or car from the ground up like they do on American Chopper. I know nothing about engines or metal fabrication etc. but I am hooked on that show.

The "contest" aspect of Monster Garage is boring and too easy to fake... how do we know they really stopped working when the cameras were turned off? They should do away with that aspect of the show, it's just not necessary.

That could also be because of the "social aspects" of that show ;)

Guys,
What time is the launch tomorrow?  I can't find it on any site.  The company sent me out for training and I DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS HISTORIC EVENT!  Also TLC or DISCOVERY will televise the launch along with the story this Sunday at 8pm.

Will the extra fuel give them more altitude, or is it just a safety backup incase their trajectory is off again?

Or a third possibility is to carry more payload, though I doubt that's the reason.

It looks like I was right about the extra payload. In order to claim the prize the next launch must carry an extra 400 pounds to simulate the weight of two more passengers. One of the original requirements of the X-prize was that the ship had to carry three occupants, however for safety reasons this was reduced to just one, but the ship must still have provisions for three people and must carry an equivalent amount of ballast. The flight in June was just a test and not intended to claim the prize, so the extra weight wasn't carried.

Yeah, it looks like their going to be able to carry 3 to fulfill the requirements of the contract with Richard Branson.  Frankly I always thought he was a lunatic, but I have to give him credit, investing in SS1 is a good idea.

Woo-hoo!

That was quite a flight! SS1 started rolling during the ascent and I got very worried. When the pilot radioed that he was shutting down the engine I thought he was aborting the flight because I was expecting a longer rocket firing.

And to top it off he did another roll (intentionally this time) during the descent to the runway. :D

It sounds like they were planning to fly it again next Monday because they want to have time for a third attempt if necessary... but this roll problem might delay things.

They actually expected the rolls and said that they were not a problem.

Started watching around 6am and I hated the opening ceremonies.  I taped it when I went to work and came home to watch it at lunch.  I was surprised that the NASA channel was covering this!  I fast forwarded through the B.S. and went straight to the flight.  Beautiful flight and congrats to the SS1 team.

They need to get better speakers at the X-prize ceremonies.  One funny moment on the tape was a security guard in the background started pushing a camera crew around.

I missed all of that... I actually woke up just in time to catch the SS1 seperate from White Knight and ignite it's rocket.

Actually there were two passengers on yesterdays SpaceShipOne flight. Burt Rutan's mother (her ashes in a vase), and a RAF flight officer named Terence.

haha, nice Madmax.

I was away last week with no internet access. Sadly, Dutch news didn't cover one bit of it (the unions are having a bit of a row with the government and that pretty much crowds all other news out). Glad to see everything went fine :)
