Yeah, I'd done the same on the Google maps and was surprised, since that kind of info got real scarce after 9/11.  It's gradually coming back, though I think in any case you're looking at images a year or more old.  There's a really cool sat photo of the Cape on

and you can see it was taken probably 2000, 2001- as LC-36 is still under construction, being converted from the old Saturn IB complex into the new Delta IV pad.
I get "homesick" when I look at these.... wish I was back there!  :(
