NASA & the Chilean Mine Rescue
« on: October 26, 2010, 08:07:34 PM »
Was just watching the PBS-NOVA special on all this--- and was surprised to see NASA long-duration confinement psychologist, Al Holland, as one of the consultants sent to Chile by the US.
I didn't recognise him at first- he got old!  (this is why I refrain from looking in mirrors)
I worked with Al on the "LC-30" underwater mission about 21 years ago. Good guy- not your 'typical psych,'  since he understands the systems & hardware just as well as the mental aspects.  Quick google on him finds he was vital to the Shuttle/Mir missions- his NASA Oral History interview is an interesting read.
