Echostar XI Launch on Dish Network
« on: July 16, 2008, 10:45:20 AM »
Flipping the channels for the news last night and I noticed that Dish Network was showing the launch of one their satellites live.  It was a night launch and the film quality was not great compared to NASA's film, but it was still cool to see a Sea Launch.

Looks like it took them about one year to recover from the explosion of NSS-8.  Zenit is a nice rocket, and the RD-170 is one of my favorite rocket engines(*) Our Atlas V uses a half-size version called the RD-180.

* SSME is my favorite engine, in case you were wondering.  OMG, and it's not a Russian engine?  LOL.
