"The Cape"
« on: January 20, 2007, 04:15:25 AM »
Has anyone else heard about a show called "The Cape" that ran in 1996-1997 for one season about NASA and the shuttle? I saw it on wikipedia and the imdb, but I have no idea how to find a copy. Does anyone know a way?

Ebay is probably the only way to get it, it hasn't officially been released on DVD or VHS. I'm hoping it will be on DVD someday though, it was a great show.

"The Cape" was a great show. It was produced by the MTM studio. For a long time some fellow ran a petition to save the show. It didn't work. My favourite episode was when the shuttle crew help a Soyuz with a very dead crew out.

The show didn't have a very large fan base, and appealed to only space fans which I suppose were the reasons for killing it off. Has anyone noticed that the tv shows that have potential, but aren't an immediate hit are axed ? And a lot of crud usually takes its place.

I can't find DVD's of cartoons and shows that I loved as a kid so I turned to youtube.  I even got to see old episodes of Max Headroom.

Youtube was the first place I went to, because the show sounds interesting to me.  But, alas, I cannot find it.  If anyone fines this show online anywhere, please post it here!

Until then, the most realistic movie/show we have about the space program that is not a documentary is Apollo13.

Oh, you are right!  From the Earth to the Moon!  I rented it, expecting a documentary.  My wife groaned.  She hates documentaries, and she isn't a big fan of the whole space thing.  Put them together, and she wasn't looking forward to this at all!  But she really enjoyed that series, and even expressed a desire to buy the series!  We own Apollo 13.  So there is a way to make an accurate space movie without losing public interest.  Hollywood just isn't that good at it!  ;)
