Buzz Aldrin - Saved Games
« on: November 21, 2006, 10:03:36 AM »
I love BARIS, but with a family and a burgeoning law practice, I just don't have time to play the whole game through. Isn't there a way to edit the saved games to increase funding or enable certain technologies? Also, does anyone have any saved games that have most all technologies enabled so that I can try launching various components and enjoy?

Cheers,

Just the other day, Michael and I were discussing how easy it would be to stop encrypting the save games.  I asked him what the point would be.  He said it just wasn't necessary, but he didn't care either way.  Well, here is my first official request!  I'll go ahead and take of the encryption in v1.11 so that you will be able to change these things.

Progress continues...  I've been putting a lot of time into this patch lately.  I hope to get this out before the end of the year.

Sounds good!  I've added it to the Upcoming Patches list on BarisWiki.

What I like to do is use a hex editor to find the memory address where the funding number is stored. It takes about 2 minutes, and change that in game. If you're interested I'd post a step-by-step guide. (This assumes you're using BARIS in Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and not original DOS!)

RCS1, I'd LOVE to get your tip on the hex edit to add funding to Saved Games. That's really the only cheat I need. Please post it.

Thanks,

Brian Liddicoat

I have posted a separate thread about this on this forum, so it doesn't get buried and lost within this thread.

You can't see it?  I can see it fine.  Maybe you do not have access to view the forum.  In order to get permission, you must email Lunar Orbit and use the code phrase "Give me hell, Kel!".
