1900 GMT, NASA just announced a delay until 1930 GMT --for wind to drop-- before launch...

A new problem with the deep space network has developed.  New launch time will be announced shortly.

I'm reminded of the words of Al Shepard, "Why don't you just fix your little problem and light this candle?"

UPDATE #1:  2:50 PM new launch time.

UPDATE #2:  Tracking station is back online.

Launch window closes at 3:23 this afternoon. They're cutting this pretty close.

It's a good thing they've got until February to launch it. Miles O'Brien seems to be getting a little frustrated.

Now targetted for the end of the window at 3:23 pm.

I have a feeling we'll all be doing this again tomorrow :?

Bloody wind!

Are we sure there's a launch window tomorrow?

What is a red line monitor fault?  What ever it is, it caused a scrub of today's launch. :(

UPDATE:

"Red line monitor fault" was a spike in the wind over the 33 knot limit.

Launch window tomorrow begins at 1:16 PM.

I think it means one of the flight controllers saw a problem on his monitor and informed the flight director.

Ed, can you verify that?

Looks like a 24 hour turnaround.

So will I; there is something about watching a rocket go up that gives me a big thrill.  I never seen a launch in person but that is something on my wish list before I die.

I'm bummed!  As soon as I woke up this morning and heard the wind violently rustling the trees I thought, 'uh-oh.'  But, I'd scheduled the day off work so I drove up the coast 100 miles hoping the winds would be less up there- not a chance.  Well, it was fun to hang out & yak with other old space guys.  Weather outlook for tomorrow has changed from rain to MORE wind.... but Thursday looks spectacular and I'd really like to see them hold off till then.
Besides- not sure how many days off in a row I can pester my boss for.....  8)
