Final Titan launch today
« on: October 19, 2005, 10:30:10 AM »
The last Titan 4B lifts off this afternoon from Vandenberg AFB in California at 2:04 pm EDT.

Should be on NASA TV for those interested.

I know that these things should have been retired years ago, but I am saddened by this.  I have always had a soft spot for the Titans despite the problems.  I guess it's a combination of my interest in Dyna-Soar and Gemini and how useful they are in BARIS , but they always seemed like the biggest symbol of the Apollo era still flying (the new Atlas just doesn't have the same appeal to me for some reason).  Oh well, it is about time.

Fitting though, that a derivative of a cold war intercontinental ballistic missile should launch a military reconnaissance satellite on it's final mission :?
